Founder Story
Caroline Robinson, MD
Dr. Caroline Robinson is a board-certified medical and cosmetic dermatologist in Chicago and the founder and CEO of Tone Dermatology, an innovative and inclusive dermatologic practice on Chicago’s Near South Side. She specializes in preventive and regenerative dermatology, with expertise in skin and hair health.
A skilled aesthetic injector, Dr. Robinson is known for her culturally conscious approach to facial anatomy and is a member of the esteemed Allergan Medical Institute. Beyond clinical practice, she advocates for diversity in dermatology and the beauty industry, collaborating with organizations and brands to raise awareness of inequities in skincare and healthcare.
Dr. Robinson earned her bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences with a minor in Genetics and Development from Cornell University. She obtained her medical degree from the University of Louisville, graduating with a distinction in research, and completed her dermatology residency at Southern Illinois University, where she served as Chief Resident in her final year.
She has held faculty positions at Northwestern University and the University of Chicago and has served on the Board of Directors of the Skin of Color Society, as well as on committees for the American Academy of Dermatology, the Women’s Dermatologic Society, and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
She has been featured and quoted in leading publications, including CNN, ABC, The Washington Post, NYMag, The New York Times, Elle, Essence, and Allure. Her recent accolades include the Traackr Top 25 U.S. Skincare Influencer (2024), ULTA Beauty 2021 MUSE 100 Award, the 2020 National Minority Quality Forum 40 Under 40 Leaders in Minority Health Award, and Refinery29’s 2020 Most Innovative Skin Expert recognition.
